A visit to Ahalia Heritage Village, Kanjikode was undertaken by the first year students of NCA to indulge in “Outdoor sketching Exercises”.
The traditional style of architecture of the auditorium, galleries, and the visitors centre developed by COSTFORD and the various terracotta and cement statues dotting the landscape were ideal subject material for sketching.
Students were divided into small groups by our artist Shri. Vijayagopal and asked to focus on different objects and perspectives. The resident artist Shri Devan took the students around the various galleries and explained the different types of art which were exhibited. Overall it was an interesting experience for the students, providing them the exposure to sketching real and life-size forms with light, shade and perspective.
