Material Study at KAJARIA GALAXY BY GEORGE KAITHARAN BUILDWARE PVT. LTD, Kochi, Kerala As part of the academic case study, the students visited Kajaria Galaxy by George Kaitharan Buildware Pvt. Ltd. in Vyttila, Kochi for a material study session. The visit provided practical exposure to a wide range of contemporary building and finishing materials used in residential and commercial construction. Students explored various categories of ceramic and vitrified tiles, sanitary ware, bath fittings, and interior finishing products while understanding their properties, applications, installation methods, and maintenance requirements. The session also highlighted the importance of selecting appropriate materials based on functionality, durability, aesthetics, sustainability, and cost effectiveness. Through interaction with the technical representatives, students gained valuable insights into current market trends, innovative products, and the role of material selection in enhancing the performance and visual appeal of architectural spaces. The visit successfully bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, enriching the students' understanding of modern construction materials.

Live Case Study at Jacob George Residence, Kochi, Kerala

As part of the live case study, the students visited the Jacob George Residence in Kakkanad, an award-winning residential project designed by architect Jacob George. The residence was conceived as an experimental project to demonstrate innovative architectural concepts that emphasize modular construction, user comfort, ease of maintenance, and climate-responsive design.
The house is designed using prefabricated Bison board wall panels, allowing electrical wiring and plumbing services to remain easily accessible for maintenance, repairs, and future modifications without the need for extensive demolition. The project showcases how contemporary architecture can effectively respond to Kerala's climatic conditions without relying on traditional regional architectural styles.

Live Case Study at Kerala Folklore Museum, Kochi, Kerala

As part of the live case study, the students visited the Kerala Folklore Museum, Kochi. During the visit, students studied the museum's architectural character, spatial organization, exhibit planning, circulation, lighting, material usage, and conservation practices. The case study provided valuable insights into museum design, heritage preservation, and the integration of architecture with cultural storytelling, enhancing the students' understanding of the relationship between built spaces and cultural identity.
The museum houses an extensive collection of nearly 4,000 artifacts, including stone, wood, and bronze sculptures, ancient terracotta objects, Stone Age relics, traditional jewellery, paintings, oil lamps, musical instruments, tribal and folk art, wooden crafts, utensils, masks, and other traditional art forms. These collections represent the essence of Kerala's history, culture, and the everyday life of its people over the past thousand years.

Live Case Study at TAPAS - The Art of Mindful Living / Fahed+Architects, Kochi, Kerala

As part of the live case study, the students visited TAPAS – The Art of Mindful Living, a contemporary apartment project designed by Fahed+Architects in Kochi. Located in the heart of the city, the project is conceived as a peaceful retreat from urban life, drawing inspiration from the Sanskrit word "Tapas" (????), which signifies self-discipline, reflection, and mindfulness. The architectural concept focuses on creating a calm and serene living environment that encourages a slower and more mindful lifestyle. During the visit, students studied the apartment's architectural planning, spatial organization, circulation, façade treatment, material palette, natural lighting, ventilation strategies, and the integration of shared and private spaces. The case study provided valuable insights into contemporary apartment design, sustainable planning principles, and the role of architecture in enhancing residents' well-being and quality of life.
